An update on the film happenings of our Stefan Malešević: 

In May, Gora, a 78min documentary shot in Kosovo, won the Best Camera award and Best Film award at the BelDocs international film festival in Belgrade.

In August, Gora was screened at DokuFest in Prizren, where it got a Special Mention from the BalkanDox jury.

In August, Stefan was a member of the jury for documentaries at the Montenegro Film Festival in Herceg Novi.

Amateri, or The Lost Innocents (Graeme Cole) at 23rd Sarajevo Film Festival

Mr Cole's movie Amateri, or The Lost Innocents, will play at Sarajevo Film Festival next week. As you may remember, the video was produced as part of an artist residency at Kino Klub Split, and is a poetic interpretation and perversion of the history and culture of the Kino Klubs of the region of the former Yugoslavia.

Aleksandra Niemczyk's adaptation of 'King Ubu' premieres in Croatia

STEFAN MALEŠEVIĆ set to shoot this winter in Bosnia and Herzegovina

-Mamonga, Stefan's first fiction feature, is in pre-production - A three-part film, set in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro. Shooting starts on winter in Tuzla, Bosnia. The project was selected for Kino Der Kunst Project Pitch in Munich, part of the film festival by the same name, held this April, where 8 alumni of European film academies have been selected to compete for the main prize (post-production funding by ARRI), awarded by the jury presided by Doryun Chong, main curator of M+ museum in Hong Kong.

The festival will also screen his short film "The Bucket Rider" as a part of their official program.

Cartegena Film Festival recently held a retrospective of the work of Bistrik7's film.factory teacher and mentor Apichatpong Weerasethakul. Gonzalo Escobar Mora, who was also screening work in the festival, took the opportunity to catch up with him and also filmed an interview with him for Fandor.

Stefan Malešević NEWS - screenings and development

STEFAN MALEŠEVIĆ's feature-length documentary, GORA, will be screened at the BelDocs festival in Belgrade in May.

Stefan is also developing his next two documentary projects - 'Gone with the Southern Wind', about the rise and fall of the most popular Yugoslav band, called the Southern Wind (Južni Vetar) - and a film about the peculiar Bektashi Islamic sect in Macedonia and Albania.

Graeme Cole's "Amateri" to premiere at Kino Klub Split 65th Birthday Celebration

Mr Cole's latest picture, Amateri, or The Lost Innocents, will premiere at Kino Klub Split in Croatia as part of the cineclub's 65th Anniversary celebrations.

The video was made in collaboration with the Klub during his artistic residency in April-May 2016, and is inspired by the club's specific history and the culture of the Kino Klubs of the region of the former Yugoslavia in general.

A selection of films made by the students of the Institute's roaming art school, Unfound Peoples Videotechnic, will also play.
